Doomsday Preppers Season 1 Episode 1

Doomsday Season Premiere

Lessons From The First Doomsday Preppers Show

The first Doomsday Preppers Show
The first Doomsday Preppers Show appropriately named "Apocalypse 101 - Expect the Unexpected" wastes no time getting into one of the most important preparations if you are going to survive after some sort of doomsday catastrophe. Being prepared with an underground bunker stocked full of food and supplies is one thing, defending it from people that will try and take it away from you is quite another.

A company by the name of Forge Survival Supply is run by four x-Marines, Joel Stevens the CEO, Mark Puhaly a survival fitness instructor, Mike Kozel a combat intelligence expert and Jimmy Campbell a hand-to-hand combat expert. They have been hired to help build a defensive perimeter around a home in Eastern Colorado for Travis and Kim Coker's 40 acre treeless property. The Coker's and their 4 Daughter's are well stocked up with a years supply of food, water and weapons and even have a Bug Out Shelter mounted on a trailer all ready to go. What lacks is defensive space to defend their home if that day should ever arise.

Mean while they have a young 14 year old prepper by the name of Josh Grossman come into the Forge Survival Supply to get an assessment on his Survival Pack that he has spent a lot of time building. he claims he has been working on his Bug-Out Kit for most of his life and feels it's just a matter of time before all his preparations pay off. It's obviously a well thought out survival kit that weighs in at 30-35 pounds, but I am surprised the survival expert did not mention the importance of having a smaller pack within the larger one when circumstances for carrying that much bulk/weigh would deter you from carrying anything at all. They move onto defensive hand-to-hand combat where Josh looks like has already had some training in this area and picks up a few more good tips in defending himself  Marine style. It's his Moms turn who lets loose on the punching bag while Josh blocks some impressive blows. That is until one gets away and he almost gets knocked out my his Mom. Too funny, she must of owed him one for something.

Back at the Cocker's Homestead, the Forge Survival Supply fighting an uphill battle on how too even defend a home sitting in the open, decides to use all the "stuff' piled up in the backyard and build a defensible space between the front yard and the main road. They test their skills with a mock-up home invasion where the Forge Survival Supply Marines come storming in with paintball guns. Four combat proven Marines against the couple was interesting, but hardly realistic. Never the less it's good training anytime you defend anything especially when its your own house. The best advise the Forge Survival Crew could give them is to get more people to defend such a large open space.

Jerome Holman from Fountain, Colorado and a self professed experienced prepper, rides up on his Motorcycle that is a Bug-Out on wheels. He's prepared all the time, so long as his Harley is near by. Jerome's choice of weapons? The blow dart which is made of metal and can also be used as a staff for hand to hand combat. The Forge Survival Crew once again set-up a staged scenario to test Holman's Bug-Out plan using a motorcycle. They give him a 5 minute head start to get hidden and get his brightly colored bike camouflaged. He passed the test, well sort of, but the best tip they could give Jerome is if it's a real life doomsday environment, either stay off the roads or wear a Kevlar Vest which offers some sort of protection when riding free.

Ron Mcferrfen from Aurora, Colorado wants to build a Faraday cage to protect electronics from being destroyed in case of any electrical disruption. A Faraday cage is basically a box wrapped in a wire screen or metal that you put electrical devises inside to protect them. To complete the circuit you then run a copper cord and ground it with a separate stake. They test this out by putting a transistor radio inside, and SOB if it could not pick up a signal when they closed the lid.

And last but not least of the premiere Doomsday Preppers Show they bring in Andy Bell also from Colorado, to show off his impressive line of weapons. he goes over the three basic weapons most survivalists have in their collections including a good hand gun, a rifle and a shot gun. he then brings out the big gun, his 50 cal. that can lay cover thousands of yards away.

The Doomsday Preppers first episode ends in what looks like a feast fest with a table full of all kinds of different weapons. Ah yes, the good ole day's when Uncle Sam was still flipping the bill for all those toys and all the rounds that came with them.
